Time: Mallorca is one hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+1) but from late March until late September summer time (GMT+2) applies.
Electricity: The power supply in Mallorca is 220-225 volts, though some hotels still have 100 – 120 volt inlets. Sockets accept two-round-pin style plugs – an adaptor is needed for most non-continental appliances and a transformer for appliances operating on 100-120 volts.
WiFi: Many local bars, restaurants and hotels have free wifi.
Post Office: The Post Office in Puerto Pollensa is in Roger de Flor, situated behind the council offices, by the main square.
Money: Euro (EUR) is the currency. You can exchange money at the banks and also in many of the shops.
Drinking water: Mineral water is recommended even though the tap water is generally safe. It is cheap to purchase and sold as sin gaz (still) and con gaz (carbonated).
Tipping: A service charge is already included in prices and on bills, therefore tipping is not regarded as obligatory. However, tips are usually left if the service received has been very satisfactory in the bars and restaurants.
Telephones: A public telephone (telefono) takes most euro cent coin. A phonecard (credifone) is available from post offices and tabacos. The telephone code for the Island is 971. If you want to dial a number on the Island, you will still need to dial the 971 prefix before the six other digits.

Medical: Pharmacists can prescribe certain medicines for minor ailments. Should you need to see a doctor you will need your medical card (EHIC) to receive free treatment. In Puerto Pollensa there is a 24 hour medical centre (PACS) which is located on the ground floor of the building next to the municipal swimming pool (look for the red cross). There are also a number of private doctors available in the town.
