Valldemossa

Valldemossa offers a wide selection of restaurants, cafes, tapas bars and pastelerias (patisseries) catering for all tastes and wallets. Additionally some of the hotels are also open to non-residents and are worth visiting. Try exploring the town away from the main tourist paths where you will discover unspoilt cosy bars and cafes many of which provide stunning views over the surrounding countryside. One of the best tapas bars in the town is only open for four hours a day from noon until 4.00 pm but is well worth a visit. Located just around the corner from St Bartholomew’s Church on Carreró de l’Amargura, Quita Penas is quite simply wonderful! Its rustic charm and tasty locally produced meats, fruits and cheeses, which are served on toasts, are simple but amazing.

Another firm favourite with tourists is the small bistro bar Es Roquissar located in the corner of Placa de Cartoixa whose food is described as European, Fusion and consists, like many in the area, of first rate local produce and wonderful sea food.

‘Excellent food in a wonderful setting’ are words often used to describe Casa de Sa Miranda which serves well presented and reasonably priced Mallorcan, Mediterranean, European and Fusion dishes from its premises in Placa Miranda des Lladoners.

If you travel out of town a few miles away to Porto de Valldemossa (a rather hair-raising drive) you will find the lovely family run sea front restaurant of Es Port. Established in 1969 this restaurant has gained a reputation for quality sea food. Amongst its specialities are lobster paellas, black cuttlefish rice and stuff baked fish dishes. Es Port even has its own nursery for European and Spiny lobsters!

Why not spoil yourself with a visit to the spectacularly located Valldemossa Hotel and Restaurant? A member of the Association of Relais & Chateaux you can be sure that your dining experience will mirror the location and scenery surrounding the hotel. Open to non residents for both lunch and dinner the Valldemossa Hotel also offers a Mallorquin menu and a six course tasting menu. The restaurant is famous for its Musical Lunches which are enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. For more information contact the hotel direct.

Whilst many eating establishments in and around Valldemossa offer a varied cuisine including Italian, Turkish and Asian dishes, the food is predominantly Mediterranean in flavour as one would expect and is locally sourced.
